Have you ever wondered how you are going to deliver some of your teaching within these subjects if you don’t necessarily have the prior practical knowledge in all areas of your teaching Units? I am a qualified teacher, but moreover previously a tenacious investigator in serious and complex crime scenes.
I have been successfully delivering training workshops and events to students from across the Further Educational system for over a year now, with 30 years of police investigation experience in Crime Scene Management as a New Scotland Yard detective.
All events are delivered in an engaging and enthusiastic way to encourage student participation in what is designed to be a fun packed two-day workshop. It is about capturing the imagination of the student from the outset and taking them on a journey of new investigation skills.
The sessions and the scenario create a real buzz and excitement which students find different to other areas of their courses. In my experience so far, this motivates them post Covid, encouraging their attendance and participation in the training days with hands on learning.
The workshops help to develop practical techniques, build confidence, inspire and put employability skills into context whilst building evidence where required for student portfolios and coursework.
My courses and lectures can provide enrichment and curriculum development, perfect for blended learning, e-learning and distance learning. I can provide education resources in criminology and crime scene investigation, and tutoring and mentoring for Police careers and those studying for the National Investigators Exam (NIE).
It is delivered with a mixture of learning styles for the needs of the student with both classroom activity to cover vital aspects of their course syllabus but also with a mixture of kinaesthetic learning and practical elements over both days to consolidate their knowledge. I am more than mindful of the different stages of student development and engagement and how to encourage students to immerse themselves in what is a “continuing real to life major investigation” over the two-day workshop.
