Paul Kingdon PCE

Paul is a former New Scotland Yard Detective Sergeant and was a Police Training Manager for the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Crime Academy.

Paul now delivers a plethora of teaching/consultancy lecturing such as at the University of Bedfordshire, Brunel University and University of West London, predominantly in Policing Programmes, Forensic Science and Crime Scene Management. Paul also delivers in decision making and risk management alongside some Media Crime Drama Consultancy. Paul has represented the police in training across the UK with external Governmental stakeholders such as course content developer for OFCOM, OFGEM, work with the Charity Commission, HMRC, the Jill Dando Institute, and delivery with the National Communications Data Service in County Lines investigations.


He has taught previously in a number of locations abroad, notably, Abu Dhabi, the Caribbean, Gibraltar and to visiting officers from a wide range of countries such as the US Army, Japan and to Hong Kong to name just a few.

Paul until recently consulted for the MPS in Crime Scene Preservation, Exhibits, Public Protection (management of sexual, violent/dangerous offenders), Safeguarding and Interviewing to Graduate entry Detectives, Homicide officers and PIP 2.

He has also more recently previously been a Progression and Development Coach for new Detective/Police apprentices on the Police Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF) programme.

Paul is actively involved in mentoring recruit police officers to successfully pass the National Investigators Examination.

He has received six police commendations for his part in the professional delivery of MPS training such as to officers in Crime Scene Management at Grenfell, alongside six for his detective ability in such matters as his family liaison work, homicide investigation and general detective investigations.

Paul is a qualified assessor, developing and moderating accreditation evidence of students, he also has a background in Building Management/ Logistics within the Teaching Environment.
He is now predominantly involved in teaching to Further Education students with crime scene workshops and engaging lectures to college students in Crime Scene Management in both subjects of Criminology (Unit 3 Crime Scene to Court Room -WJEC) and also Uniformed Protected Services (UPS) students in Unit 21 (NCFE -CSI) curriculums.

He has two young adult sons who have both achieved employment goals through apprenticeship routes into their specialised fields.
