The learners will follow a major crime scene investigation from the initial crime scene to the investigation by the police and other personnel involved in criminal investigations. This includes experts such as forensic specialists and scientists. The students will discover some of the techniques used by the police such as surveillance, profiling, use of DNA databases and interview techniques alongside both physical and testimonial evidence collection and analysis of exhibits.
They will follow the criminal justice process through the various stages and the rights of individuals in criminal investigations. They will learn all about the rules of evidence, the CPS and the role of juries and magistrates. They will also focus on the validity of information, including course case study’s, verdicts and sentencing. This workshop is interchangeable with the UPS workshop and can be adapted as you may require.

This course complements blended learning and offers enrichments and curriculum development with real case studies, touching on preservation of evidence, digital evidence, victimology, Locard’s Principle, fingerprint analysis and blood spatter analysis.
